It’s the first time I’ve teared up since watching this series.  I find it fun and full of action and don’t expect the little moments of humor, but it certainly keeps me watching.  I can’t wait for the next season!

I’m not sure we’ve seen the last of Charley either, he doesn’t seem to be someone to go away when someone he loves may need his help.

I find it interesting to see the different ways Cameron is learning to cope with her role as high school student. That student counselor couldn’t get her out of his office fast enough when she perfectly imitated the jumper’s last words!

I also think this Sarah Connor is different from the Linda Hamilton one because she seems to be a pacifist. While Cameron tells Sarah to kill the young man she’s been dating, Sarah opts to destroy the mechanical chess-playing machine he has created. I though it was totally unclear if Andy could even become a part of Skynet, but Cam doesn’t want to take any chances, often erring on the more violent act rather than thinking first. Yes, the Sarah-Cameron dynamic is definitely going to be an interesting one.

Now if we can just find out how realistic Cromartie can make himself, if he can look as human as he did in the pilot. And what are the odds that he’ll ever find another scientist willing to provide the means by which he can “regenerate”if he ever loses his flesh again?

Sarah has been shot and needs medical attention.  She sends John off in search of supplies and Cameron stitches her up while he is gone.

The next day Cameron takes them to a bank founded in 1963 and says she has a safe deposit box there.  Sarah asks when she opened her account and she says in 1963.  Upon entering the bank Cameron pulls the gun from the guard’s holster and tells everyone to get on the floor.  She gets the teller to lock them in the vault.  Cameron then opens her deposit box and uses the computer found there to open more boxes.  Apparently she knew the engineer who created the bank, he was from the future and made a homemade gun of some kind to fight the evil robot.  He was also kind enough to leave behind a time machine to travel forward in time.  Cameron prepares the time machine as Sarah waits for the gun to be ready to fight the shooter who is steadily demonishing the metal of the vault door.

He continues to beat the vault door to pulp as the gun revs up to full power and, just as he destroys the last of it and bursts through the doorway, Sarah hits the button on the gun and a huge wave of energy takes the robot’s head off and tears his body apart limb by limb.  A bubble enlarges from the time machine, engulfing them and they disappear, only to reappear in a burst of light on a freeway, naked for all the world to see.  They turn and run off the road, but not before a teenager in a nearby car turns his cell camera on them.

Once they are safely away, Sarah asks “Where are we?” to which Cameron counters, “Same where, different when.”  The construction signs flash 09-03-07 so we understand they are now in 2007 whereas earlier scenes have shown the year as 1999.

A car full of drunken college boys pulls up, ready to have their way with Cameron, but she takes them down karate-style, naked and all.  As they move on, now fully clothed, John asks her if anyone knows they are there and she says “No.  You’re safe,” to which John and Sarah say, in unison, “No one is ever safe.”

Later that night, they have found what appears to be an abandoned house.  The news mentions an amateur video showing 3 streakers trying to cross the 105 freeway earlier that evening and the camera pans to the home of Sarah’s ex-fiance, who is glued to the tv spouting the story.  Next it moves to the office of the FBI guy who was after Sarah way back in 1999.  It seems they haven’t forgotten.

The final scene is of the 3 time travellers in front of their house, wondering if they will be able to find out who creates the robots so they can destroy him.  We hear Sarah’s voiceover as she recalls just why it is so important that she save her son so he can save the world.  She doesn’t know what they are up against but her final words, “It’s gonna be one hell of a dogfight,” say it all.

And thus ends the pilot episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.  I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to this series!

Having found a place to rest, John sleeps while the women talk. Cameron has been looking for them for 73 days. She tells Sarah she was stupid not to change her alias. I could have told you that.

The cops and the FBI are finding it hard to believe the witnesses at the school are describing the shooter as having a robot leg.

John begs Sarah to stop running. He doesn’t think he could possibly be the one destined to lead an army. Maybe his mom but certainly not him.

Cameron tells Sarah that, even though Miles Dyson is dead, someone else takes on his work and creates the robots, but she doesn’t know who it is, only when and where it happens. Sarah goes to the Dyson’s residence to ask Tarissa, Dyson’s widow. Sarah asks for help as the robot approaches. Just as he hears the front door, an SUV crashes out of the garage, driving him back several yards. As he starts to run and passes an abandoned truck, Cameron pulls out a remote and sets off an explosion in the truck knocking the gunman down just long enough for them to get away.

Sarah is hiding behind some rocks watching the cops swarm all over John’s school when a shadow engulfs her. She looks up and is immediately thrown to the ground by the gunman. She tries but fails to put a bullet into her brain. Her cell phone rings and the robot gets it out of her pocket, holds his hand over her mouth and impersonates her voice “John!” John is concerned about his mother, tells her he’s going to the house and the robot rings off saying, “John, I love you, I’ll see you at the house.”

Sarah must be of some use to the gunman because he takes her with him to the house. They aren’t there a minute before the back door opens and the gunman says “John?” and John’s voice says “Mom?” and the robot shoots at the figure approaching from the back door. The figure pulls out a weapon and fires back. The robot takes down this figure only to find it is Cameron who says “Neat trick, huh?” and the brawl begins.

As Cameron and the gunman fight, both being robots, the house is slowly demolished and Sarah and John make their getaway in the pickup. Cameron takes an electrical hose and short circuits the gunman into convulsions until he becomes inert. She then runs out the door, catches up with the pickup and John lets her in as they continue to travel at high speed. Cameron says “120 seconds before reboot,” and they continue to flee the scene. The camera pans back to the gunman who slowly restarts and opens his eyes.

For some reason Sarah is convinced that it’s time to pick up and leave. But it looks to me that her leaving is the thing that triggers it all. Worried, even though she left her engagement ring behind, neatly placed back in the velvet-lined box, her boyfriend goes to the cops who call the FBI who figure out who she is and that leads to all hell breaking loose at John’s new school.

First day at school, John meets a cute girl in class, Cameron, and they talk outside near his locker. John, like Claire of Heroes, forgets the rule about not getting to know anyone.

The next day they have a substitute teacher and, of course, think nothing of it until the guy, after carving notches into his leg with a letter opener as he calls roll, jumps on his desk and starts shooting. Everyone drops to the floor screaming except John. He jumps out the window as he sees the teacher shoot Cameron dead-on in the chest and blood flows.

Outside John, hiding behind cars in the parking lot, seems to have nowhere to go. He zigzags back and forth, trying to lose the gunman who is now stalking quickly toward the parking lot. John sees him coming straight toward him at the back of the lot when — BAM! — a pickup truck comes out of nowhere and pushes the evil teacher down to the end of the row of cars where he struggles to get up. The truck door opens near John and Cameron, at the wheel, says, “Get in!” He jumps inside, takes one look at the bloodstain in the middle of her shirt and holds on for dear life.

The man has reached the farthest of the vehicles and he draws his weapon and starts shooting. Sarah gets out of the car and gets to John before the gunman turns on them. He is busy mowing down everyone else. Sarah and John run for their lives but John is shot. Sarah runs to him and sees that he is shot and assumes he is dead. By now the gunman has caught up and is standing over them. Sarah begs him to kill her saying “Nothing matters anymore.”

The gunman then says “You’re right, nothing matters anymore. Only the boy. The future’s ours. And it begins now.”

The world spins out of control: a tornado whips up and hits the school as the world goes dark, the man’s flesh disappears and reveals him to be a robot. He reaches for Sarah’s throat and starts to squeeze and she awakens.

Yes, of course it was just a nightmare, but from the look on her face, one she has had before. She appears to be shaken by it and her boyfriend asks her if she just screamed. She relaxes, not to scare him, and he says he needs to get up to go work the early shift. He hopes she likes her new engagement ring that he and her 15-year-old son, John, had picked out just the other day. Sarah reminds him that she loves him and tells him not to forget it. Ah, shades of foreboding already!
