Ugly Betty Cuts Kevin Loose

Kevin Alejandro, most recently of the 6-episode series Drive, has been let go from his newest venture, Ugly Betty. It was a heart-wrenching moment when Betty found Hilda holding a pillow that, until that very moment, we had all thought was Santos, the character portrayed by Kevin. What a clever, though exceptionally sad, way of wrapping up his storyline.

All 6 episodes of Drive, the Nathan Fillion-Kristin Lehman short but action-packed series, are now available online here.

Nathan Fillion portrays a husband involved in an illegal cross-country car race, hoping to find his wife who is being held captive. Other contestants have various reasons for competing. This is a fast-paced action drama that is well worth a look despite it’s being so short-lived.

Upcoming things in store for the actors involved:

Kristin Lehman: co-starring in an NBC one-hour pilot “Backyards & Bullets” which centers around her and her husband Lonnie, the new chief detective

Emma Stone: Superbad, a big-screen movie starring Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, and Seth Rogen, coming out in 2007

Kevin Alejandro: he’s on Ugly Betty and has 2 upcoming movies, Strange Wilderness and Hunter’s Moon with Matthew Lawrence

Melanie Lynskey: Comanche Moon, a mini-series starring Elizabeth Banks, Val Kilmer, Steve Zahn, and Linda Cardellini

Taryn Manning: she was in Hustle & Flow and has 5 movies coming out in 2007 & 2008, the first of which is Last Resort with Teddy Dunn of Veronica Mars

Drive Gets Burned, not Burned Off

What a ripoff! At the last minute FOX is pulling the plug on the final 2 Drive episodes. They were originally scheduled for July 4th, then moved to July 13th, and now replaced with a rerun of Bones and the penultimate episode of Standoff.

It is unclear whether these 2 episodes will become available at their MySpace page where you can find the other 4 episodes.

Nathan Fillion Gets Another Chance

I read somewhere that Nathan Fillion and Dana Delany may be added to Desperate Housewives next season, as Bree’s sister and her husband. I was never a big Dana Delany fan before the late great Kidnapped last season, but now I’ll really enjoy seeing her again. But the real draw for me will be Nathan Fillion. I mean, not only is he great looking, but he was on Firefly, Drive and even in the remake of Slither. Does it get any better than that?

Drive Returns for Final 2 Episodes

LATEST UPDATE: THE FINAL 2 EPISODES WILL NOT BE AIRED UNTIL FRIDAY, JULY 13 AT 7PM CST!

Start your engines! Anyone who enjoyed the action and tension of this Nathan Fillion show should be excited to hear that Fox will be airing the final 2 (of the 6 episode run) episodes on July 13 starting at 7PM CST!

Drive is about an illegal cross country race and each contestant has a different reason why they must race. For some it is just the money, but for Alex Tully (Fillion) it’s a little more personal: his wife has been kidnapped and he has been led to belief that she will be returned to him only if he wins the race. On the trip cross country he runs into a variety of obstacles and challenges that he must face if he expects to see her again.

UPDATE: Fox now says the final two Drives will air this summer, specific date TBA. So much for there being an additional 9 episodes left.

Drive Cancelled

I wanted to give Drive a nice sendoff because, though it has only aired 4 episodes, it was a kick! High speed car chases and great looking actors can be enough to sustain a show sometimes. With Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity, Slither) , Kristen Lehman (Forever Knight), and Amy Acker (Angel, Alias) among the cast it looked to be tons of fun, but Fox has yanked it in favor of reruns of House. Thankfully I kept the eps just in case of such a tragedy and I hope they will air the additional 9 episodes on the web if nothing else. So, here’s to the end of Drive:

So they got away with bank robbery – or is it only burglary since no one was there? At least until that evil security guard busted in on them and got himself killed. And now Sean may die too. I was kind of hoping somebody would die just to thin out the pack, and of course it had to be Susan so she can be with God. How much fun is this show!

Wow! 3 hours of non-stop car chases and action-packed fun! How can you not love this show! Nathan Fillion’s character is apparently more than you originally expect, and how about that weird mom carrying a baby doll in the carseat. I don’t know exactly where they think they can go with this but I’ll be along for the ride as long as it lasts – 1 hour episodes Mondays on Fox.

Reality Becomes Fiction

Drive is the new series premiering Sunday and Monday starring Nathan Fillion, Kristen Lehman, Amy Acker and many more who find themselves running an illegal cross-country race, each team for different reasons. The opening episode is a two-hour show and runs opposite The Amazing Race: All-Stars and it may give the reality show a run for its money. You may have to decide whether you want to watch a reality show or the new fictional one for your adrenaline rush, but don’t forget to tune in again Monday for yet a 3rd hour of Drive on Fox.
