numb3rs-season-3.jpgCharlie is the one driven almost to the breaking point when he is followed and later attacked by someone trying to stop the FBI’s investigation of a reporter’s kidnapping. Not only does Don chastize him for mentioning an ongoing case during a television interview, driving Charlie to being secretive about the extent to which the attack has affected him, the burden of solving this crime causes his brain to betray him. He relies on his brain power to work the formulas needed to solve the crime and he says he’s just not seeing the patterns he used to and he “can’t do it anymore.”

It takes Colby taking Charlie to a secluded spot to make Charlie comfortable talking about the attack. Once he’s talked it out, he is able to work on the formulas again and help Don and the team locate the kidnap victim to solve the crime.

Another great episode showing the connections, or lack thereof, between the brothers. Anyone who thinks this is a procedural show is missing out on the family bonds that are highlighted with every episode!
