I had firmly decided to root for TK & Rachel, the hippies, coming into this leg of the race. If nothing else, Nate and Jen must go! With the hippies in first place it seemed like a slam dunk!

The first task on this leg was to get a flight to Osaka, Japan. TK & Rachel decide to go to a travel agency, as do Ron and Christina. Nate and Jen, as well as Nick and Don, go straight to the airport to get their tickets. TK & Rachel take the first flight out, leaving at 630PM, while the other 3 teams get on an 830PM flight. Seems the hippies will be first to arrive in Japan, right? Unfortunately, no, because they have 2 stops while the others go through Hong Kong only and arrive at 230PM next day. No telling when TK & Rachel will arrive! Unless this turns out to be a non-elimination round, they are toast!

Yet again, both Nate & Jen and Ron decide they won’t argue or lose their temper. Like that’s going to work! At one point on a taxi ride, Christina & Ron’s driver appeared to be having a heart attack, then recovered, prompting Christina to say “I just hope he doesn’t croak on us”.

Christina is confident she and Ron will do well in Japan because she had recently learned the language. At the roadblock, where one team member has to drive a couple through the crowded busy streets of Osaka and then find their way back with no one getting in the vehicle and directing them, the first three teams were running neck and neck.

The next task was a detour where Nate & Jen and Ron & Christina chose the sense of smell to find a real flower among fakes while Don & Nick chose playing robot soccer with cell phones and the fact that Don is not a techie at all left them way behind.

Nate & Jen complete the task first but, due to her speaking Japanese, Christina & Ron move ahead and arrive at the pit stop in first place. When Nate & Jen arrive in second place, Jen says with this next leg “It is on!”

Finally TK & Rachel arrive in Japan and they have no idea how far they are behind everyone. At this point, Don and Nick arrive in third place.

We follow TK & Rachel through all the tasks and when they finally arrive in last place they are told by Phil that this is a non-elimination round! But, of course, next leg they will have to perform a speed bump which is a task that none of the other teams have to perform and, since they are 3 hours behind everyone else, it will be extremely tough. From the looks of the previews, it looks like Nate and Jen will be working really hard to be sure no other teams get the information they do.

Since TK & Rachel are a long shot I’m changing my vote to Ron and Christina. When they arrived in first place, she said “My dad did not lose his temper once!” which I cannot say for Nate & Jen.
