This writers’ strike has got all kinds of strange things happening!
It’s hard to understand why there are new episodes of Lost while other shows that had been shelved for higher-quality programming are finding their way to our screens, not to mention all the reality shows since no writing needs to take place on those.
But amidst all the weird goings-on I heard a rumor today that one of my favorite shows (if it can be a favorite before I’ve seen a second episode) may be coming to primetime, over the airwaves, on CBS!
Yes, it’s Dexter, most recently of Showtime but adapted from the two, now three, books that are hilarious and sad, grotesque and enlightening. I recently saw American Psycho, with Christian Bale, for the first time and I realized that Patrick was what Dexter would have become if his stepfather hadn’t taken him aside as a teenager and helped him direct his homicidal tendencies toward the deserving evil people among us.
I recommend all of you who do not have access to Showtime to watch this show and, if you can take it, rent the original version because you know the networks will be forced to cut out all the dramatic and fun parts, though this is no over-the-top series to begin with, it is just plain fun, a real guilty pleasure if you’ll pardon the pun!
