Nate and Jen started out on the wrong foot and things just went down from there.  They were in a line of teams waiting for the main airline ticket office to open but, when the Goths went to a different one down the way, Jen got curious and dragged Nate down there too.  They eventually found there weren’t enough tickets for them and got back in the other line.

Azaria and Hendekea, the brother-sister team, reserved their tickets ahead and were so proud of their initiative until they found out they had purchased business tickets and they were supposed to purchase economy.  They were getting on each others’ nerves and arguing.  Then they found out that the flights the others took would be delayed.  Despite the delays, the plane containing Nate & Jen; the Goths; and Christina & Donald, the father-daughter team, arrived first.

The first task was a roadblock where one player had to fit a stone into a wall, searching among many stones and many holes in the wall until one piece fit, sort of “like Tetris” as Vyxsin, the female Goth, said!  Nate and Jen were able to pass the Goths during this task and they moved on to task two, a detour.

The detour was a choice between short & long and long & short.  One way was to repel down a wall, scale up another and walk through a maze of streets.  The other way was to go down a zipline, swim to a boat, row themselves and then run a short way.  Nate & Jen and Christina & Donald took the second way.  Nate said “we’ll kick their butt” but Donald actually knew how to row while Jen & Nate mostly just yelled at each other the whole time.

Even though Nate & Jen got slightly ahead, the taxi driver they chose to take them to the pitstop wouldn’t let them in his cab because their clothes were wet and, when Christina & Don arrived at the taxi stand, they were able to find a cab to take them, and they arrived in 1st place!  Nate & Jen found someone in a car who agreed to drive them to the pitstop and it appeared they would be in second place.  But Phil told them they took an illegal means of transportation and that they would have to return to the spot they got the car and instead take a taxi.  While they were gone, the Goths got a cab and went on to the pitstop, in 2nd place!azaria-hendekea.jpg

When Nate & Jen finally returned, taking 3rd place, Jen had to admit that she and Nate maybe not continue their relationship beyond the Race.  After Nate & Jen, TK & Rachel, the hippies, arrived at the pitstop.

In the meantime, Nick & Ron, the grandson-grandfather team; and Azaria & Hendekea landed in Croatia and were trying to catch up.  Though A&H still argued, they tried to catch up to the other team but, in the end, were unable to do so, and they arrived at the pitstop in last place.  Unfortunately, though I was surprised, they were eliminated.  I felt for sure this week should be a non-elimination round.  There aren’t many teams left and there are usually at least a couple of them during each Race series.

I bid a fond farewell to this brother-sister team who, despite their arguing, realized they were working under extreme pressure.  Hendekea said “we beat ourselves”, Azaria said he was impressed with how his sister handled everything because “she had to deal with me.”  They kind of reminded me of Maya and Alejandro of Heroes, the close-knit brother-sister team we met in South America as they travelled with Sylar.
