william-atherton2.jpgYou’ve gotta love William Atherton! He was an annoying guy in a couple of the Die Hard movies and he’s an annoying guy in this episode of Numb3rs. His party-girl daughter, Ella, is fed up with Daddy’s not paying attention to her and decides to mastermind her own kidnapping.

While on stakeout to try to take down the “kidnappers”, visiting specialist Sean Patrick Flannery offers David a job, noting that David seems to enjoy adrenaline. David later decides that he wants to stay on as a field agent and not be the “cowboy” Sean’s character is.

In the meantime, Don gets tired of his relationship with Liz and ends it by virtually saying “It’s not you, it’s me” and she takes the hint and leaves her key to his apartment on the table and leaves, saying “See you at work tomorrow, boss.” That’s certainly going to make for a wonderful team environment from here on out.

Also, Megan lets the case get to her since, apparently, she has Daddy issues also. She lets her temper get the better of her and jumps all over the rich Dad, causing Don to put her on desk restriction. Given time to herself (and a little time bouncing it off Liz), Megan figures out that daddy’s little girl is out to get him or at least all his money, though she’s acting like she wants him to cash out and give it all to charity. Ella almost kills her dad after killing the guy she duped into helping her with the kidnapping and, when the FBI finally arrests her, Atherton’s character yells to her, “I’ll get you the best lawyers there are” to which she says “I love you, too, Daddy”! What a heartwarming moment!

To save the mood of the show, Megan tells Larry she has planned a visit back East to see her dad and she’d like him to come with her. He sounds interested and they appear to be getting back together, for which I’m very pleased! I just don’t know how Larry is going to feel about getting aboard another flying machine after his bout with seclusion that followed his trip around the world via space shuttle.
