It was good to see Megan and Larry making moves toward involvement again, tentative as they were. Larry is such a neurotic, having taken refuge in a monastery after returning from orbitting the planet. But now he seems to be spending more time at the university so he appears to be looking outward instead of inward.
Millie’s name was mentioned briefly by Amita but, fortunately for us, Kathy Najimy didn’t actually turn up in this episode. We should be so lucky that it will continue!
Dipping pumpkins in liquid nitrogen and dropping them from the highest point at Caltech to watch them explode actually IS a tradition at the real school. Since Charlie, Larry, and Amita are professors there, and Charlie’s dad, Alan, is attending classes, it seemed natural that Alan and Larry would run into each other on campus just at the time of the first drop. Alan seemed unaware of this tradition, but Larry was actually hanging around in front of the library because he likes explosions!
And it was nice to see that Charlie wasn’t discouraged with Amita’s taking a while to decide how to handle the issue that her dad would prefer she be dating someone from India rather than Charlie. It’ll be interesting to see how Alan and her dad interact. They both sound like stubborn men. Sparks could fly!
