Apparently some time had passed since the previous episode because Matt (Ron Livingston) was back even though it seemed that he had quit before.
He and Emily weren’t getting along well and that led to them almost ruining a negotiation with a corporate executive who had taken a board room full of execs hostage over a golden parachute. But, wait! They were actually working together to stall the exec while the SWAT team set up and broke in, taking over the situation and rescuing everyone. So Matt and Emily can work together after all.
Then they tell Cheryl they don’t want to work together anymore.
Next Emily goes off to a date with one of the people from the hostage situation and that role is played by none other than John Livingston, Ron’s brother. In the middle of their date, a hostage situation appears and Matt is first on the scene.
By the time Emily shows up, the wife of the hostage taker has taken a hostage of her own, down the street, so Emily takes over that negotiation. Matt and Emily ending up working as middle-men between the two hostage takers and eventually talk them down. As they are led off to jail, they have realized just how much they really love each other.
Surprisingly enough, Standoff was able to wrap this up by the end of the show, because Emily and Matt realize that makeup sex is so much better than break up sex.
So that makes the DVD for this 1-season show a must for any Ron Livingston, Gina Torres, or Rosemarie DeWitt fan!
