The Closer – The Round File

frances2This show was guest star-centric: Nina Foch, Orson Bean, Mrs. Landingham, and the lightbulb headed guy. Almost enough to distract from the plotline.

Nice to see that we didn’t have to wait long for Sgt. Gabriel’s suspension to end. But Brenda made it a cold environment for him and Daniels had to bear the brunt of it. It was nice to see at the end where she invited him to attend the interrogation with her and they both almost smiled at each other. When Brenda left Gabriel to keep an eye on the suspect, Provenza’s response that it probably wouldn’t be necessary to beat a confession out of the guy was priceless. They had me going back and forth between Mrs. Landingham and the lightbulb headed guy for the murderer. A mercy killing seemed most likely, but when it came down to it, the lightbulb headed guy had no mercy for anyone. He made it very clear that he acted with no feeling whatever, just a good business sense to time the killings around peak income periods. He would have made a great accountant.

The moral that Brenda got from this show was that we don’t pay enough attention to the elderly, especially our own elders. So it made sense that she would call her mama and invite her parents to come visit soon, that she and Fritz will make room for them since this particular house was no longer on the market.

So now we have Frances Sternhagen and Barry Corbin to look forward to! They will show up on the August 20 episode. Woo Hoo!
