My TV Musings

Something I’ve noticed during these first two episodes: Michael smiles…a lot! That appears to be one of his trademarks and he does it well. But I’ve also noticed, and it cannot be detected from watching this show, but his trademark smile is an awful lot like Sharon Gless’ smile. Now I’m not even sure where I’ve seen her enough to know her smile, I don’t think I watched Cagney & Lacey enough to catch it, but maybe I did! I just know that it may be an inside joke since his mom (Sharon) on the show does NOT smile that way.

That reminds me: for those of you who are too young to remember, Cagney & Lacey are not only the fake cop names Bruce Campbell and Gabrielle Anwar gave to Greg and Bonnie on the boat tonight, but was originally a cop show from the 70’s that starred Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly (Tim Daly’s sister, not his mother as I keep thinking).

So what did we learn from tonight’s episode?

• that Michael is able to discretely check his mom’s house for bugs while interrogating her about strangers’ visiting

• that Donovan does his own stunts (did you see him jump that gate?)

• that Fi can drop her Irish accent

• that there are way too many out of work agents in Miami

• and that the best way to disable a car is just to blow it up
