Stargate Atlantis - Summer Finale Review

Funny, doesn’t Dr. Keller look a lot like Ellia, the wraith from another planet who led the SGA folks to attempt to perfect a serum that would turn wraith into human-like beings? That was the character I was expecting to see when I heard Jewel Staite was coming back to SGA. I’m happy to see she gets to be a real human this time around, as I remember her fondly as one of my favorite engineers in Firefly. I hope she will have a large enough role that we’ll see her often.

It started with McKay’s amusing line, when asked to evaluate personnel, that allowing him “to point out the people who annoy me more than the rest” would be more useful. And when Sheppard turned in his evaluations, Weir quickly pointed out that he had given all his underlings Excellents and Above Averages. Well, frankly, since his is an elite team, I would be suspicious if they all DIDN’T fall in those categories!

I felt for Elizabeth, having her authority trumped by the military, but that has happened before with the captain of the Daedalus, among others. I think she’s been getting used to the control she has had recently and wasn’t expecting these people to come in and take over. Since she’s thinking about leaving anyway, if she survives this recent attack, she may just step down.

I enjoyed watching Atlantis rise from the ocean and take off at warp speed, reminds me of the old Boston album. Wouldn’t it be cool if someday our big cities could do such a thing if threatened by annihilation!

Rodney kills me. I loved that line. I hated that Dr. Beckett died, but Jewell is a great choice as a replacement. It’s great to see her find a new home on SciFi. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Stargate fans are always welcome.
