Next Best Thing: Celebrity Impersonator

I enjoy this show but find it hit and miss, kinda like the beginning episodes of American Idol each season, but it’s more fun laughing at the bad ones on this show because you never know when you’ll get a decent one and you really can’t tell what the judges will say or do. The judges on this show are more casual than on American Idol in that they’ll get on stage with the performers to help them with their act, give them hints and such.

I take issue with the judges mostly because they are inconsistent. They say their main rule is wanting “the whole package”, look like, sound like, and perform the same as the celebrity being impersonated; but many times they will be so impressed with the voice and performance they often overlook the “look like” piece of it.

But still it’s tons of fun watching the different celebrities prance across the stage. There’s a Howard Stern character (the talk show host, not the lawyer) who made me believe he WAS Howard Stern! We’ll see him in the next rounds, whenever they start. Until then I’m just getting a kick out of watching these folks make fools of themselves or really hit the mark!
