My TV Musings

I have always enjoyed this series since Trevor Eve is in it. It takes the American Cold Case series and delves even deeper into the psyche of the bad guys. And it puts a microscope to the inner workings of the Cold Case team itself, as CI Boyd (Trevor Eve) and Dr. Grace Foley (Sue Johnston) often butt heads over the best way to get information out of someone, by brutality or, as Grace would prefer, by simply talking to them, gaining their trust. But, of course, she is a shrink!

Recently it came down to a shouting match and Grace even went as far as to leave the team for several days, Boyd had gotten her so angry. But usually they just bounce ideas off one another, with each member of the team having input into the investigation.

Last week’s season finale included a guest star who I hope will come back from time to time: Michelle Forbes, best known to me as Chief ME Dr. Julianna Cox of Homicide: Life on the Street, though she has been a guest on many other shows as well. In this episode, she and Boyd hit it off quite well so maybe her character will be seen again. Of course, Waking the Dead hasn’t been picked up for another season yet so we’ll have to wait and see!
