This is another show I haven’t seen in a long time. While I’ve been away apparently Tony Dinozzo went and got himself a girlfriend, Jeanne, a doctor at a local hospital. One of her patients is Devon, but I like to call him Colin because that’s who he played on Everwood, back near the beginning of its run. This guy apparently doesn’t know how to play characters that live very long because, while Colin lasted about a season or two before he croaked, Devon didn’t last half an episode.
Anyway, Devon just returned from Carracas and his sister, Bernie, and her friend, Melvin, are coming to visit him in the hospital. Seems Devon got really sick after being hit by a car and Melvin can’t wait to talk to him. While Devon was in Carracas, he apparently picked up a souvenir and was carrying it in his intestines. Bernie and Melvin wait while Devon dies, and then they head for the morgue, but before they can do “surgery” on poor Devon, to get out the plastic-encased heroin, Dinozzo and his girlfriend stop them.
After a struggle with Dinozzo where Tony gets knocked out, Melvin allows the doctor to bring Tony around before she does the surgery. Once she pulls the bag from Devon’s belly, she quickly opens it with her scalpel, allowing the powder inside to blow through the room, most of it landing on and inside Devon.
While Melvin, Jeanne, and DiNozzo all fight over the gun, Bernie is heard in the background. They all turn around and see her, nose-deep into her brother’s innards, taking deep inhalations of the glorious powder that she has needed so badly. Dinozzo gets control of the gun and the scene ends.
I was glad this sub-plot kept me watching, because the one about the Director, played by Jim Carrey’s ex Lauren Holly, is ho-hum since I don’t care if she lives or dies, and Pauley Perrette and David McCallum, my two favorites on this show, were just wasted in this episode.
Don’t know if it’s enough to bring me back next season, but it looks like DiNozzo’s girlfriend has a bad guy for a dad, played by Armand Assante, and that could be good for a few episodes anyway.
