Gilmore Girls Series Finale

Yes, alas, it is true: Gilmore Girls is ending with this Tuesday’s episode. And, while I can hope for this show to wrap things up on a high note as much as I want, poor Logan won’t be part of that picture. This past week he proposed to Rory, in front of her entire family no less, and she quietly took him aside and turned him down. And I actually think it is for the best.

Logan has come so far, from an arrogant frat boy to an upstanding entrepreneur no longer in his rich father’s shadow. He deserves to marry someone who is ready to stand beside him and go forward, not a college graduate who hasn’t yet found herself. Rory and Logan went through some ups and downs together and he came out the other side a grown up, whereas Rory is still trying to figure out her role in life.

Luke and Lorelai, however, are slowly building the foundation for a beautiful friendship, if nothing else. I’m sure many hardcore fans of this show will be disappointed that they won’t get married during the run of the series, but I have a feeling there might be a hint that things could lead in that direction at some time in the future and it’s not necessary to tie up all the loose ends when a show, well, ends.

I raise my glass to Gilmore Girls and hope this leaves an opening that can only be filled with the renewal of Veronica Mars!
